Examples of ESD susceptible (ESDs) Component are Microcircuits, Discrete semiconductors, thick and thin film resistors, hybrid devices and piezoelectric crystals etc. The increasing sophistication of Electronic devices that has made Electronic devices more susceptible to ESD damage is a trend that is expected to continue.
Use ESD products for the protection of Electrical and Electronic parts, assemblies and equipment (Excluding Electrically initiated explosive devices).
Unfortunately ESD damage to electric component is not as readily apparent as the effect of static electricity in other Industries. This is because ESD damage is not generally visible as to occurs and may be latent or not show up in functional testing of electronic devices ESD damage may lead to premature or Intermittent failure.
Static Electricity
The effects of static electricity occurs everyday. Typical experience is clinging of cloths, dust built-up on our tv’s computer monitors or the unexpected “STATIC”, shock when we touch a door knob.
When contact and separation occurs between two materials, a transfer of electrons from the items on the surface will take place. This is referred as tribo electric generation. The resulting unbalance of Electrons is what is called an electrostatic charge.
Static charges of up to 30000 volts are not uncommon and can be generated by the simple act of walking across a floor, yet a discharge of only 10 volts can destroy a class 1 ESD sensitive device.
A material that inhibits the generation of tribo electric generations is classified as anti static. A anti static material can be conductive (less than 105 OHMS/SQ), static dissipative (106-10” OHMS/SQ) are even insulative (greater than 1012 OHMS/SQ).
Only conductive or dissipative anti static material should be used in ESD safe areas.
ALKON use special blended imported raw material to give permanent ESD safe products like different sizes of bins, trays, containers, component organizers, cabinets, PCB holders etc.
We can also supply Floorings, table mats, lab gowns, hand gloves, Antistatic / Conductive bags etc.
